This subseries includes information about the basic objective of the AAAS: to increase the public understanding of science. Ethical problems and conflicts generated by scientific and technological developments as they affect both the scientific community and the larger society is a dominant theme.
Included are correspondence, agendas, lists of participants, evaluations of speakers and their topics, and some related paper and reference material of meetings, workshops, and conferences.
