Historical Note:
The Office of Product Development and Licensing (OPDL), which reports to the Office of Business Management, was established to generate additional revenue for the Smithsonian
through licensing and development of products related to the Smithsonian Collections. Staff of OPDL identify licensing and product development opportunities within the collections
and work with manufacturers to develop these ideas into profitable entities.
