This accession consists of audiovisual elements created during the production of Smithsonian Collection of Recordings products. The Smithsonian Collection of Recordings was a part of the Division of Performing Arts until 1982, when it became a division of Smithsonian Institution Press which, in 1996, was reorganized as Smithsonian Press/Smithsonian Productions. The Smithsonian Collection of Recordings produced both single album titles and multi-volume box sets of modern and classical songs as well as recordings of performances at the Smithsonian Institution. Materials include original session recordings, outtakes, masters, safety copies, edited recordings, and final recordings on audiotape and videotape.
