This accession consists of the curatorial records of the Curatorial Office of the Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM). Materials cover projects, lectures, committees,
and other curator specific activities. The bulk of these records are from Andrew L. Connors, Associate Curator, and cover his activities in promoting Latino and Hispanic culture,
including his work for Hispanic Heritage Month, the Latino Task Force, and the Latino Working Committee. Additionally there are some records which document Connors' reviews
of exhibitions at other museums. Lastly there is a small portion of records which document the administration of the New Media/New Century Award which is part of Helios Photography
Online. Helios is the online photography presence of SAAM and is intended to be a platform for all of SAAM's photography efforts as well as be a resource for photography and
visual culture on the web. The records included in this accession document the administration of the New Media/New Century Award which is given to artists who utilize new
media to transform the way people look at the land and landscapes by using technology to encourage new collaborations, image manipulations, and interactions with audiences.
Materials include correspondence, memoranda, minutes of meetings, brochures, pamphlets, lecture manuscripts, project proposals, budget information, contracts, and applications.
