One image is a group portrait of attendees -- including Thomas Wilson, delegate for the Smithsonian -- at the Second International Congress of Criminal Anthropologists, held in Paris in 1889. Two additional group portraits, made by A. P. Wilcomb, show attendees at the Seventeenth International Congress of Americanists at Buenos Aires in 1910. Ales Hrdlicka was the Smithsonian and US government's delegate to the Americanists meeting. His name is written on the verso of the ICCA photograph mount.
